NATURAL HABITAT:

This terrestrial burrower inhabits the tropical rain forest. When kept as pets, the adult frogs will require a 10 gallon enclosure for proper captive care.

BEHAVIOR:

Docile and friendly, easy to handle. Always wash hands after handling this species.

CAPTIVE ENVIRONMENT:

Use full spectrum lighting 12-14 hours per day. Provide a basking area with access to a cooler zone. Use a low wattage heat lamp and small humid burrow area.

TEMPERATURE:

Change moist moss every 4-5 days. Maintain day temperature range between 76-82 degrees F. Maintain night temperature range between 72-80 degrees F.

HUMIDITY:

This species requires a constant high level of humidity.

WATER REQUIREMENTS:

Provide a large shallow bowl for drinking and soaking. Mist the enclosure daily for moisture and high humidity. Use only dechlorinated water.

NUTRITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

This species is a carnivore (meat eater). Also feeds on small mammals such as pink baby mice. Always offer variety for proper nutrition. Dust food with calcium and vitamins. Enjoys crickets, wax worms and butter worms.
